Clinical Dermatology — Newmarket
Still battling breakouts?
It's not your fault.
Acne is a medical condition, not a cosmetic inconvenience. If your acne is moderate, severe, or leaving scars — you need medical intervention, not another high-street serum.
An individual clinical plan
Your skin deserves more than another guess.
We assess the type and severity of your acne, scarring risk, past treatments and the effect on your wellbeing. If specialist treatment is needed, we can advise on referral rather than promise care we do not currently provide on site.
The science — why nothing has worked
It's happening deep inside the follicle
According to the NHS and the British Association of Dermatologists, acne is driven by hormones that cause abnormal oil production, completely blocking your pores deep inside the follicle. That's why simply washing your face or using standard over-the-counter skincare cannot clear it.
Trigger excess sebum production at the base of the follicle — no cleanser can reach this deep.
Blocks the pore from within, trapping bacteria and dead skin cells beneath the surface.
Proliferates in the blocked, oxygen-deprived follicle — causing inflammation, pain and scarring.
Please don't risk your health buying online
Some acne medicines require specialist oversight, monitoring and, where relevant, pregnancy-prevention measures. Do not buy prescription medicines from unregulated online sources. We offer clinical assessment and can advise on onward specialist referral.
Your acne pathway
Clinician-led care, with a clear referral route
Clinical Assessment
Our GP with a special interest in dermatology or a Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist reviews your acne, previous treatments, scarring risk and wellbeing.
Personalised Plan
Your clinician discusses the diagnosis, suitable first-line treatment and any checks needed for the plan you agree.
Treatment and Review
Our clinicians can discuss appropriate skincare and medicines within their scope, then review response and tolerability.
Specialist Referral
If acne is severe or scarring, we can advise on referral for specialist treatment such as oral isotretinoin; that service manages its prescribing and monitoring.
