Your surgeon's letter is required before care is confirmed
We require a letter outlining exactly what your surgeon needs and confirming that they retain responsibility for the surgery, any further intervention and management of surgical complications. Our clinical team must review the request before accepting your care.

Whether you are preparing for surgery or returning home after an operation, we can consider the following planned services. The medical services at our Newmarket clinic are provided through our medical division, MedHub.
GP assessments
A focused review of your health, medical history and medicines to address your surgeon's stated requirements. Findings can be shared with your surgical team with your consent; the final decision to operate remains theirs.
Wound checks & dressings
Assessment of suitable surgical wounds and planned dressing changes in line with your surgeon's instructions, with attention to healing and signs that need further medical or surgical assessment.
Suture removal
Removal of non-dissolvable stitches when the wound is ready and it is clinically safe to do so, following your surgeon's written plan. Timing is individual to the procedure, wound site and healing.
Tests and GP assessments do not guarantee fitness for surgery or anaesthesia. Your operating surgeon and anaesthetist remain responsible for the final decision to proceed and for reviewing the information they have requested.

What we need from your surgeon
Please contact reception before booking. We will explain how to provide the letter and relevant records securely. Do not send medical records or wound photographs through the website's general enquiry form or chat.
If your records are not in English, ask your surgical team to provide a clear English-language care plan. For post-operative care, we may also need your discharge summary, operation details and current medication list.
The letter should include:
- Your details, the surgeon's name, the procedure and the planned or completed operation date.
- The exact blood tests, ECG or GP assessment requested, when they are needed, and how results should be sent, reviewed and acted upon.
- The wound-care plan: dressing type and frequency, review arrangements, and which sutures need removal and when.
- Confirmation that the operating surgeon retains responsibility for surgical care, further intervention and management of surgical complications.
- A named clinical contact, reliable contact details and a clear escalation plan, including arrangements outside normal hours and access to hospital care if required.

Arrange aftercare before you travel
Routine local appointments are only one part of recovery. Ask your surgeon where follow-up will take place, how they will manage complications and whether further treatment is included in your surgical package. Our involvement is not an endorsement of the operation or overseas provider.
Surgery and long journeys can increase blood-clot risk. Ask your surgical team for individual travel and recovery advice; this service does not replace their advice about when it is safe to fly.

If you are worried after surgery
Emergency symptoms: call 999
Call 999 for severe difficulty breathing, chest or upper-back pain, collapse or uncontrolled heavy bleeding. Leg pain or swelling together with breathlessness or chest pain also needs emergency help. Do not drive yourself to A&E.
New or worsening symptoms: seek urgent advice
Contact your surgical team or a GP urgently for increasing wound redness, heat, swelling or pain, pus or discharge, a wound that opens, fever or feeling unwell. New one-sided leg pain or swelling, sudden breathlessness or coughing up blood also needs urgent assessment. If you cannot get prompt advice, contact NHS 111; use 999 for the emergency symptoms above.
Do not delay urgent or emergency care while waiting for a surgeon's letter, a reply from the clinic or your next dressing appointment. These examples are not a complete list of possible complications.
