The full range of adult skin conditions: eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, alopecia, urticaria, fungal infections, warts and verrucas, plus mole checks, skin cancer assessment and general skin lesion diagnosis. If you're not sure what your skin problem is, that's exactly what a diagnostic consultation is for.

Depending on your clinical needs and appointment availability, you may see our GP with a special interest in dermatology or a Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist. The service is provided through our CQC-registered medical division, MedHub. Where consultant-level input is needed, we discuss onward referral rather than presenting it as an in-house appointment.

Usually within days, not months. NHS dermatology waiting lists commonly run to many months — our private pathway typically offers appointments within the week.

Depending on your diagnosis and the treating clinician's scope: prescription creams and ointments, selected oral medicines, clinician-curated skincare, cryotherapy or minor surgery. Some treatments, including oral isotretinoin, require specialist-led care and may need an onward referral. Every plan is explained clearly, with costs agreed before treatment.

Yes. Mole checks and skin lesion assessment with dermoscopy are core parts of the service. Anything suspicious can be biopsied or excised in-house with histology as standard, and where a hospital pathway is needed we refer you promptly with a full clinical report.

Not for self-paying patients — you can self-refer for a diagnostic consultation. If you plan to claim through health insurance, most insurers including Aviva and WPA require a GP referral before authorising specialist dermatology. Your NHS GP can provide this, or our private GP service can assess and refer you where clinically appropriate. Referrals can be emailed to info@medhub.org.uk.

Yes. The Medical Skin Clinic is a recognised provider for Aviva private health insurance. Call Aviva before your appointment to confirm your cover and obtain a pre-authorisation number, then book with our team and share your membership number and authorisation code — we handle the rest.

Yes. We are a WPA recognised provider. Contact WPA for pre-authorisation, then book your appointment with your authorisation code. Our reception team will take care of the invoicing and paperwork with WPA directly.

Some medically necessary skin consultations, lesion checks, biopsies and minor surgery may be covered, depending on the named clinician, your policy and insurer pre-authorisation. Please confirm clinician eligibility and any referral requirements with your insurer before booking. Cosmetic treatments are self-funded; policy excesses and shortfalls remain your responsibility.

Everything can be handled in-house: prescriptions and repeat reviews, minor surgery for lesion removal (with histology included), phlebotomy for blood tests, and onward referral to hospital specialists if ever needed. For insured patients, follow-ups related to an authorised episode of care can usually be claimed too — check with your insurer.
